President says positive results emerging from government ministry reforms

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the changes introduced to government ministries are now producing positive results.
Speaking on PSM’s “Nation Chat” programme, President Muizzu shared details of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and improve the efficiency of state administration. He said that the restructuring carried out within the Cabinet was an important reform aimed at implementing government policies in a way that better serves the needs of the public.
President Muizzu stated that the results of the Local Council Elections and public opinion surveys had shown that citizens wanted him to introduce changes. He added that if the implementation of policies was not proceeding effectively, he had the responsibility and ability to correct the situation. According to the President, the changes made to ministries and the Cabinet were based on that principle.
Highlighting the outcomes of those decisions, President Muizzu said that the reforms had already led to noticeable improvements and that further measures would continue to be taken to make government operations more efficient in the future.
“Efficiency has increased significantly in the work of some ministries. That does not mean that previous ministers did not work with dedication. However, I wanted to bring changes that would improve performance even further. Looking at the work being carried out by each ministry now, I can clearly see the positive results of those changes,” the President said.
President Muizzu also noted that recent efforts to improve the functioning of ministries had reduced response times for students studying abroad. He explained that while processing requests previously took an average of four weeks, it now takes around four days, and work is continuing to shorten that timeframe even further.
In addition to the Cabinet reshuffle, the President said the government had also decided to reduce the number of political appointees working in ministries. He explained that this process would move forward following an operational review. President Muizzu further stated that instructions had been issued to ensure ministries respond to the public more efficiently and effectively.
