The Maldives has welcomed 2,120,759 tourists so far this year, according to the Tourism Ministry.
With just two weeks left in 2025, the country needs to attract 179,241 more visitors to meet the government’s target of 2.3 million arrivals.
Tourist arrivals typically surge during the Christmas and New Year holidays, giving officials confidence that the target can be reached. Last year, Maldives crossed the two‑million mark for the first time in December. This year, the milestone was achieved earlier, on November 27, when Bethany Sarah Caswell from England became the two‑millionth tourist. She visited Maldives with her husband for their honeymoon.
