MACL Denies Contracting Firm Allegedly Linked to Israel for VIA Terminal Opening

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has issued a firm denial in response to allegations that a company supporting Israel has been contracted for the inauguration of the new terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA).
In a statement released Thursday night, MACL refuted reports circulating on social media and media outlet Raajje TV, stating that no transactions have been conducted with any company linked to Israel. The company described the claims as "false information intended to defame MACL."
"We categorically assure the public that the company accused in the video is not involved in any such activities as alleged," MACL said, emphasizing that MACL is a 100% Maldivian state-owned company that upholds national values.
The company also confirmed that it has initiated legal action in response to the claims and will be submitting a formal complaint to the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom) for regulatory review.
The official opening of VIA’s new terminal is scheduled for July 26, to coincide with Independence Day. Final preparations are underway for the high-profile ceremony.
