Survey works necessary to begin phase three of road development in Kulhudhuffushi City has commenced, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) has stated.
This initiative is being carried out by RDC, with the agreement signed on 31st July 2025. This project was inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during his visit to the island.
Under this project, 3.4 km of road will be paved, and all undeveloped roads on the island will be designed. Also, sidewalks will be constructed, and water drainage systems, road markings and signboards would be installed.
This is a Public Service Investment (PSI) initiative allocated to RDC for completion in 730 days. The government has stated that USD 6.49 million has been invested into this project.
Road development in Kulhudhuffushi City has previously been carried out by RDC, under two phases. In the first phase, 18 roads were paved, and in the second phase, an additional 24 roads were paved and modernised in 2022.
Kulhudhuffushi City is one of the largest islands by population in the North of Maldives, and it is frequented by residents seeking various services. A regional hospital, airport and government offices are also located on this island.
