Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz has said that the Police Diving Team has successfully recovered evidence for an ongoing investigation.
In a tweet by the Commissioner yesterday, he said that the Police Diving Team had made a very successful dive, recovered evidence important for an ongoing case, and that it reminded him of the Suntan Park bomb case dive.
While his tweet does not mention any further details, Police Media Official has said the he cannot currently disclose any information regarding the case.
One of the cases currently being investigated most seriously by the Police is the recent murder of Ungoofaaru MP Dr. Afrasheem Ali. During their latest press conference, the Police Commissioner said that Afrasheem was murdered for political reasons and a large amount of money had changed hands for the murder. Police have forwarded the cases of two individuals believed to have been directly involved in the murder to PG Office.
During the investigations of the Sultan Park bombing, the Police had dived into the Hulhumale’ lagoon and retrieved a broken mobile phone SIM card.
