The construction of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge between Male’ and Hulhule’ is not pledged only by the Government of Maldives، but also by the Chinese Government، says Minister of Tourism، Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor.
Speaking on DhiTV’s news program، the Co-Chair of the Economic Council، Minister Adeeb said the opposition saying ‘Government is not fulfilling its pledges’ are weightless accusations.
He said that although the opposition is claiming there is no progress with the Male’-Hulhule’ project، the venture is proceeding with an essential speed.
Minister Adeeb said the project is a pledge of China as well، and the project was assured by the President of China during his state visit in Maldives.
“I want to repeat again. The bridge is not a pledge only by us. It was also pledged by one of the most powerful and economically advanced country in the world. We are working hand in hand with them in the project”، Adeeb said.
Adeeb further said not long after the visit by the Chinese President، a survey team arrived in Maldives to conduct a preliminary survey for the Bridge construction، and the second phase of the survey will be conducted soon.
In addition، Adeeb said the protests of the opposition has no integrity or any credible reason. “The opposition just want to overthrow the Government. We will not allow it. We are busily engaged in progressing with our economical projects.”
