Ex-President Nasheed’s brother files lawsuit against Correctional Services

Former president Mohamed Nasheed’s younger brother، Ahmed Nazim Abdul Sattar has filed a lawsuit in Civil Court against Maldives Correctional Services (MCS).
Nazim filed the lawsuit claiming that Correctional Service has banned family visits to ex-president Mohamed Nasheed who is currently held at Maafushi Jail.
According to Nazim، he was allowed to visit Nasheed once a week after he was jailed، however، he was notified by Correctional Services that family visits are banned since 8 September 2015.
The lawsuit by Nazim also appealed the Civil Court to nullify the Correctional Services’ order، which is in violation with Article 62 and 85 of Prisons and Parole Act of Maldives.
