. Mr. Ahmed Mohamed has presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan,
Mr. Ashraf Ghani, as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Afghanistan, on 1 February 2016. The ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace in Kabul.
President Ashraf Ghani welcomed Ambassador Ahmed Mohamed and congratulated him on his appointment.
In the meeting that ensued, Ambassador Ahmed Mohamed conveyed the greetings and good wishes from the President of Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to President Ghani and the people of Afghanistan and discussed ways of further strengthening relations between the two countries. They exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and Afghanistan, especially through the framework of SAARC.
