President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has said that the international community does not offer to pay for damages when individual nations go on various agendas, even after the nation had been proven to be free from the suspicion.

He said that during the eight months Maldives was listed in the agenda, during former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed’s tenure, Maldives sustained many economic losses. Even after the Government was proved innocent of the claims, the international community did not pay back for the losses caused.
President Yameen said that in the current CMAG meeting, decision was taken not to list Maldives on the agenda.
He compared the situations in Maldives and France, when the two nations declared state of emergency. President Yameen said that when state of emergency was declared in Maldives, many nations was extremely critical of the decision. However, when France had declared state of emergency, the President said that it was viewed with more sympathetic eyes.
Similar to his other speeches, President Yameen also stressed that Maldivians will determine their internal affairs, in spite of the attempted interference by outside parties.
