A bill that would extend all Israel’s new laws onto the Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank has been approved by the Israeli ministerial committee.
This move is sponsored by legislators who want Israel to occupy part of the territory. The bill will be ratified as a Law once the legislators approve it by an unanimous vote after three sittings.
But Justice Minister Tzipi Livni، Israel’s chief negotiator in peace talks with the Palestinians that collapsed in April، said she would appeal the decision، effectively putting parliamentary ratification on indefinite hold.
West Bank is considered as the territory to be under Israel’s military control، and the new Bill won’t apply on Palestinians residing at the area. They will be enforced with Military Law of Israel.
However، if the Bill is legislated، it will ease the occupation of other lands for Israel، experts stated. Also، the new draft bill would have made it mandatory for the commander to issue a military order for the Jewish settlers within 45 days of a law’s passage in parliament.
While Israel has claimed that this new law does not contradict with any International Laws، the absurd law is widely seen as a step toward Israeli occupation، and is considered illegal by most countries.
