Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu proclaimed that the project to develop Sultan Park in capital Male is being delayed due to difficulties in procuring some resources.
Minister Muizzu declared that the park will be renovated into a unique place and will be recognized regionally. The concept includes a snow park or a winter corner designed especially for children.
In addition, it will include a rose garden, green tunnel walkway, water fountain and a special skating area for children.
“The work is progressing slowly due to the delay in finding certain equipment. Some materials will be acquired very soon. MTCC (Maldives Transport and Contracting Company) is working on it. The winter corner in particular has to be designed very cautiously,” said Muizzu.
Claiming that the new Sultan Park will be a major tourist attraction, Minister Muizzu assured that the park will be beautiful as designed in the concept no matter the length of the delay.
Muizzu added that the government expects to finish the project by the Independence Day which is celebrated on July 26.
