Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said Masjid ad-Da’wah will be the most modern mosque in the capital upon completion. He added that the facility will also serve as a free center for religious and pre-school activities.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to replace aging mosques across Male' with modern, multi-functional facilities. Among them is the reconstruction of Masjid Yusuf Al Barbari, located at the corner of Radhebai Magu and Majeedhee Magu. That three-storey mosque, which began construction in May, will accommodate 1,400 worshippers and is expected to open by December this year.
