Shaheeb Ibrahim of Lighthouse, GA. Villingili, an individual accused in the 2020 seizure of 130 kg of drugs from a fishing boat, has surrendered to police.
Police initially issued a wanted notice for Shaheeb on September 13, linked to a case in the Criminal Court. A second search was announced on Thursday as he had yet to be located.
Police stated that Shaheeb was sought under a court order requiring his production in the Criminal Court under police custody on the 23rd of this month at 18:00, due to his consistent failure to appear for summons.
Police confirmed that Shaheeb himself appeared at the police station early on Thursday evening.
On October 12, 2020, police seized 130 kg of drugs from a fishing boat in Hulhumale' Bay, leading to the arrest of seven individuals, including a 16-year-old.
Shaheeb and Ahmed Moosa from Violetvilla, HA. Hoarafushi, were identified as alleged ringleaders. Despite initial court orders and appeals upholding their custody, the Criminal Court released them on April 6, 2022, citing the state's failure to provide adequate medical care. Their release was conditional for a period of two months.
