Oaga Art Resort officially opened its doors welcoming tourists this new year.
The art-centric tourist resort, run by a Maldivian team focuses its primary concept on the philosophy of organic community growth. The resort focuses on “elevating the collective story of the Maldive islands with a platform especially made to cater to local artists and craftsmen”.
Coinciding with the 2023 New Year celebrations, the resort opened showcasing a transition from the traditional ways of the forefathers to the contemporary street-style celebrations.
The resort’s all-inclusive plan includes several varieties of experiences. These include Creative Expression (art) classes, Take Note (music) sessions, Thashibari In-Villa Dining, floating meals, choices of excursions, and motorized watersports among several other activities.
Oaga Art Resort’s Haruge Beach Villas with private pools are portals into Maldivian folklore; especially that of the most legendary Maldivian lovers, Dhon Hiyala and Alifulhu. On the other hand, the Veyoge Gallery Pool Villas take pages from the story of ‘Khalid and Sitti’; the villas are designed after the home where the lovers spent their nights.
The main bar of the resort, Raa Baa is home to the largest hand-painted mural pool in the Maldives. Additionally, there are over 300 hand-painted murals created by local artists and creatives, to spot on the island.
As part of Oaga Art Resort’s CSR activities, the resort will provide a platform to promote local talents and give back to the local cottage industries.
Oaga Art Resort is situated in North Male’ Atoll, situated 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport (VIA). The top-tier art-centric resort consists of 60 private villas; beach and over water options, 4 dining venues and a spa with treatments centering around Maldivian homeopathic practices.
