Nasheed condemns opposition for playing religion card

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has condemned opposition leaders for claiming that Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) would allow any religion other than Islam in the Maldives.
Speaking at a campaign event in Gn. Fuvahmulah on Thursday night, MDP leader Nasheed said that his party has built the most mosques out of any other administration and that his party will only allow Islam in the country.
Nasheed accused the opposition of trying to manufacture public outrage and unashamedly spreading lies about the current administration.
He said that MDP’s parliamentary candidates have integrity and will never be subject to bribes during their term, and that the current administration will solve all the problems faced by residents of Fuvahmulah and provide free education to students and focus on national development.
He also said that courts will not give its verdict on political grounds if the government has parliament majority and urged voters to support MDP’s Agenda 19.
