PG's request to review Nasheed's case: legal team submits written response to SC

Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s legal team has on Thursday submitted a written response to the Supreme Court, regarding the Prosecutor General (PG)’s request to review his case.
The Supreme Court has previously upheld the 13-year sentence on terrorism charges that President Nasheed was slapped with for the unlawful incarceration and isolation of then Criminal Court Chief judge Abdullah Mohamed. The court has since accepted the PG’s request to review the case.
A member of Nasheed’s legal team, Hisaan Hussain tweeted that a written response was submitted to the Supreme court on behalf of the former president on Thursday.
The supreme court had, last Thursday, issued a stay order to delay the enforcement of the sentence until they finished their current review of the case.
The stay order by the supreme court mentioned that President Nasheed’s jail sentence issued by the Criminal Court, the high court order to uphold the conviction, and the previous supreme court order regarding the sentence was to be reviewed at the request of the PG.
The PG also requested a temporary order on all relevant authorities to refrain from taking any action against President Nasheed, as it may subject him to undue harm while the case was being reviewed and the supreme court issued the order as such.
