Kendhoo constituency MP Ali Hussein has said that the charges of the Prosecutor General against former President Mohamed Nasheed is against the rulings of the Supreme Court and the High Court.
In a rally held at the premises of the Male’ City Council, Ali Hussein said that the Supreme Court addressed the MNDF to release Judge Abdulla when he was detained by them during the regime of MDP.
Ali Hussein said that he does not believe that the Prosecutor General has the authority to contradict this edict by the Supreme Court.
In addition to this, Ali Hussein said that the attorney of a case cannot be the witness of the same case and vice versa. He said that the state attorney in Nasheed’s case is also a witness presented during the case.
“This is not my speech. This is what the High Court ruled,” he said.
Ali Hussein said that this alone is enough that to prove that the trial against former President Nasheed is politically motivated.
