The announcement was made during President Dr Muizzu’s address to the community of Guraidhoo in Thaa Atoll on Thursday evening, as part of his ongoing tour of inhabited islands across four atolls.
During his address, the President announced that he will inaugurate the nation’s first decompression chamber established outside Malé City, located in Guraidhoo, this Friday. The President further pledged to establish decompression chambers in Addu City, Fuvahmulah, Villingili, Rasdhoo, Thinadhoo, and Malé within the next four months, thereby expanding access to critical diving-related healthcare services nationwide.
The President also announced that MRI services will be established in all tertiary hospitals within six months, while CT imaging facilities will be introduced across urban centres nationwide during the same period, enhancing diagnostic capacity and equitable access to advanced healthcare.
President Dr Muizzu further outlined plans to introduce advanced dental care facilities in 15 atoll hospitals within the next four months, aiming to elevate the standard of oral healthcare services nationwide.
