Total 90 percent of reclamation works is now complete for the first segment the Boduthakurufaanu Magu that is being expanded as part of a project to redevelop the ring road around Male’ City to accommodate four lanes, according to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The Public Service Media (PSM), citing officials from MTCC, reported on Friday that concrete panels needed for revetment wall around Boduthakurufaanu Magu has now been transported to the project site.
MTCC said it has also completed C channel installation work and work on anchor blocks to reinforce sheet piles.
The company added that it has also completed sheet piling works on the 132-meter-area in the first phase of the project, and 90 percent of reclamation works for the first segment to expand Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
The area from the Izzuddin Jetty to the fish market has been closed off for the works.
The MVR 144.5 million Boduthakurufaanu Magu project, which will see the redevelopment of 830 meters of road with an asphalt base and 737 meters of sheet piling and a storm water drain system, was awarded to MTCC in April.
Practical works on the project began on August 21, and is expected to wrap up in one year and three months.
