While the earlier reports suggested that a person drifting in sea near the Sinamale' Bridge has been rescued, reports now indicate that the person was a deceased woman.
Police said they received reports of the incident at 12:35 hrs this afternoon, and that they had transferred the person to IGMH.
The body was found by a speedboat traveling in the area, Mihaaru News reports.
As the body was afloat, it was taken aboard a dinghy and taken to hospital.
An Official from IGMH confirmed to Mihaaru News that the person had been dead on arrival.
"It was a dead woman. We have not been able to determine nationality or age at this time," they said.
