Administration to undertake all required expenses to ensure the safety of Maldivians

Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed has stated the administration will be undertaking any expenses required to ensure the health and safety of Maldivian citizens.
Speaking at a press conference held to disseminate information regarding the situation of COVID-19 in Maldives, the tourism minister said the administration has been evaluating the impact of the outbreak on the financial situation of the country. As such, the minister noted regular evaluations are conducted on a weekly basis by Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Finance and Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). He said plans are being formulated on how to handle an economic crisis that may arise through the spread of the virus in Maldives.
The tourism minister further stated the administration will be undertaking all required expenses to ensure the health and safety of Maldivian citizens, despite a possible financial crisis. He revealed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has given specific instructions to the finance ministry to undertake all required expenses to contain the spread of the virus in Maldives.
Speaking further, Minister Ali Waheed assured the country will not go into bankruptcy due to COVID-19, adding there is no reason for the public to panic over the situation. He urged the people of Maldives to remain calm and follow the instructions given by health authorities and professionals.
