The Maldives National University (MNU), in collaboration with Flinders University (FU) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), has launched a new project under the Australia Awards Fellowships (AAF) program titled "Development of Health Profession Education Capacity in the Maldives." The initiative aims to strengthen healthcare education capabilities in the Maldives through specialized training and knowledge exchange.
The project enables healthcare educators and professionals from MNU’s Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Medicine to participate in tailored programs in Australia. These programs include masterclasses, seminars, and workshops led by Australian healthcare education experts, as well as attendance at the Australia & New Zealand Association of Health Professions Education Conference. Participants will also visit various healthcare and educational institutions to gain insights into advanced practices.
A key component of the fellowship involves Maldivian participants sharing details of the Maldives’ healthcare delivery system, current educational methods, and future aspirations with Australian clinical and educational professionals. This exchange aims to foster mutual understanding and collaboration. Additionally, the program includes the development of an 18-month integrated group initiative designed to further enhance healthcare education in the Maldives.
MNU emphasized that the fellowship represents a significant opportunity to elevate the quality of healthcare education, equipping Maldivian professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to address national healthcare challenges. The collaboration underscores the Maldives’ commitment to advancing its healthcare system through international partnerships and capacity building.
