Minister at the President’s office Ahmed Zuhoor have said that it is not clear what type of report Al Jazeera is going release about the Maldives.
Zuhoor said that the report which was produced by former employees of MDP’s tabloid Minivan News is neither an investigative report nor a documentary. “It can be classified as one of the two only when they include comments from both the sides, but that has not been done” said Zuhoor.
He said that he believes, this report is a propaganda piece funded by people who are envious of Maldives. Zuhoor said that, the government is not worried, no matter how much such groups work against the Maldives. He further said that there are people who are envious of the development Maldives is going through under President Yameen’s leadership and that their work will not be successful.
Zuhoor added noted that within the last few days Maldives has seen massive development in the economic and finance sector and that there are some countries among our neighbors who are jealous of our achievements.
In addition, he said that while some groups are envious of our achievements, others are “angry” because Maldives is a 100 percent Islamic nation. He said that the opposition is trying to topple the government one way or the other with the help of such parties.
