Mohamed Hussain Shareef, the minister at the President's Office has confirmed that President Abdulla Yameen was not hurt in the blast on the presidential yatch, which occurred on Monday morning.
At the time of the explosion, President Yameen was enroute to Male’ from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, after he had completed an unofficial trip to Saudi Arabia.
Speaking to state media, Public Service Media, Minister Shareef said that President Yameen was unhurt in the incident and that there was no cause for concern. Following the blast, First Lady Fathmath Ibrahim and two persons from the Presidential entourage were taken to IGMH. Minister Shareef reported that President Yameen, Vice President and Cabinet members were present in IGMH.
He added that the launch was currently under MNDF supervisions and the investigation was ongoing. He also added that the full details of the incident will be apparent once the investigation was fully concluded.
