President urges continued worship beyond Ramadan

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the spiritual lessons of Ramadan, stating that the end of Ramadan does not mark the end of worship, and that the six voluntary fasts of Shawwaal are an invitation to continue in devotion.
He made the remarks in his address to the nation on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
In his address, the President said Eid is a time to celebrate Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and blessings following worship during the holy month of Ramadan. He said Muslims must express gratitude for being able to fast during the holy month while having engaged in other acts of worship such as remembrance of Allah, recitation of Quran, seeking forgiveness, and being charitable towards the less fortunate. He also emphasised the importance of being kind to each other, maintaining good intentions towards others, and fostering faith and love in society.
The President also spoke on the importance of adhering to Islamic guidelines when celebrating Eid. He advised to avoid actions that go against religious teachings when organising Eid celebrations.
Noting that Ramadan taught important lessons for the body and soul, the President said practising good speech and good deeds, maintaining unity within the Muslim community, and exercising patience in all aspects of life are all lessons of Ramadan.
Highlighting the connection between Ramadan, Eid and the voluntary fasts of Shawwaal, the President said this reflects that Islam calls to remain consistent and continue worship beyond Ramadan. He advised to stay committed to righteous actions throughout the year.
The President also expressed concern for the global Muslim Ummah and highlighted the suffering of Muslims, especially in Palestine and parts of the Middle East. He reminded that Muslims are like one body, sharing each other’s pain. He prayed for the peace, security, dignity, and strength for Muslims across the world.
