A delegation from the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcast Development (AIBD) have arrived in Maldives in preparation for the 21st Asia Media Summit.
This year’s summit will be held in Maldives, organised jointly by AIBD and Public Service Media (PSM).
AIBD Chief Executive Officer and Secretariat Director Philomena Gnanapragasam and other members of AIBD are currently in the Maldives on an official visit to discuss preparations for this summit. The delegation has met high-ranking officials from PSM. This includes the Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb, Deputy Managing Director Yameen Rasheed and several Heads of Departments.
The delegation will be meeting with key organisers of the Asia Media Summit 2026 during their five-day official visit to the Maldives. This marks the first time the summit will be held in the island nation, with the host country announced in 2025 during the Handover Ceremony at the 20th Asia Media Summit.
Held since 2004, the Asia Media Summit aims to bring together broadcasters, media professionals, regulators, scholars and stakeholders from around the globe, providing a platform for dialogue to create progress in the media sector, as per AIBD.
