President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Aishath Asna Hamdi as the new Deputy Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). The appointment was made today under the authority granted to the President by Section 6(3) of the Maldives Monetary Authority Act 1981 (Act No. 6/81).
With 17 years of experience in central banking and financial sector development, Asna is a seasoned expert in the field. Prior to her appointment, she served as the Head of Financial Sector Development at the MMA, where she played a key role in shaping national financial strategies.
Asna holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Nottingham (2014) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) from the University of East London (2007). Her academic background also includes an Advanced Diploma, Diploma, and Certificate in Business Administration from the Association of Business Executives (UK).
Recognised for her leadership and expertise, Asna was awarded the Technical Leadership Award in 2023 and has published multiple academic papers on financial sector development.
