The government has received over MVR 16 billion in revenue and grants thus far this year.
According to the Finance Ministry's Weekly Fiscal Development Report, the government received MVR 16.7 billion in revenue and grants as of the 5 June. This is an increase of six percent compared to the same period last year.
During this period, the government received MVR 13 billion in tax revenue, accounting for 78 percent of total revenue. Non-tax revenue accounted for MVR 3.5 billion while grants amounted to MVR 100 million.
According to Finance Ministry’s data, the state has received 41.9 percent of the projected revenue so far this year.
Meanwhile, the government's capital expenditure and recurrent expenditure stood at MVR 15.5 billion so far this year. This is 22 percent lower than the government's expenditure during the same period last year.
