Malé City Council has announced a search for contractors to renovate Sultan Park, following President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's recent remarks about the deteriorating state of Rasfannu and Sultan Park.
In a post on his "X" account yesterday, President Dr. Muizzu expressed sadness over the current state of these popular public spaces and assured that the government would make a concerted effort to improve their condition.
Sultan Park has remained closed for renovation for the past eight months, yet visible signs of progress have been absent. Until the president’s post, the City Council had not initiated any formal search for contractors to carry out the necessary work.
In an announcement made today, the City Council invited interested parties to submit bids for the renovation project. The deadline for seeking clarification is set for February 18, with price submissions scheduled for February 24. Only Maldivian-registered companies, partnerships, local investments, and entities with valid business permits are eligible to participate.
The City Council has also closed sections of Rasrani Park for renovation, though similar delays have hindered progress there as well.
