Chinese Ambassador Wang Fukang has said that the “China Town” in Hulhumale’ has not only become famous among local residents but also popular for Chinese tourists who are flocking here to see the only China Town in the world which is not lived by Chinese but built by Chinese.
He made this remark speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of housing project of the Maldives-Phase II under Chinese soft loan.
“We are very glad that Housing Project Phase 1 with 1000 housing units has already been completed and handed over to the Maldivian Government and thousands of Maldivians are already living in this building block called by many as ‘China Town’,” he said.
The Ambassador stated that the China applauds and supports the initiative of the Government of Maldives in developing more housing units to help ease the congestion in Male and to provide better living condition for its people.
