Saudi Arabian Deputy Ambassador to the Maldives Tariq Al Fayez has said that his country will always seek to assist the Maldives, in the education, economic and social sectors.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to confer the donation assured by Dr. Abdullah Ben Mohammed Ibrahim Al- Sheikh Speaker of the Shura Council, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on his Official visit to the University on 04th January 2016 during his visit to Maldives. The donation amounted to US$ 100,000. The donation was received by Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
Speaking in the ceremony, Al Fayez said that Maldives will always receive continued assistance and assurance from Saudi Arabia, especially in matters relating to Islam and Islamic education. He also said that the donation was a personal one from the Speaker, pledged on the basis of Islamic values.
Al Fayez added that the diplomatic relationship between the two nations had further enhanced over the years, culminating in the opening of a Saudi embassy in the Maldives. He said that the ties between the two nations was not merely diplomatic but a closer bond forged between the citizens and leaders of the two nations.
