Media allowed to cover the ‘escort of Nasheed into Court’

After several days of the authorities’ obstruction، media had been granted the opportunity to cover the escort of Ex-President Nasheed into court tonight.
Several media had complained that Maldives Police Service on several occasions had obstructed the ‘duties’ of media journalists while covering the court proceedings of Nasheed – the events outside the court.
Following the hassle outside the court during the first hearing of Ex-President Nasheed، the authorities had been ‘hiding’ him from proper media coverage.
Until tonight، the media reporters had faced several difficulties to take a ‘proper shot’ for their news publishing.
Reports say، the Ex-President had been brought to the recent hearings ‘hidden’ behind an officer whilst inside the Police vehicle، and the vehicle parks inside the Justice Building، unlike parking it outside as normal.
However، tonight، Ex-President Nasheed was brought to the court openly without any ‘barriers’ for the media to cover the events outside the court.
The hearing of Ex-President Nasheed began tonight at 19:00. Reportedly، Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ arrived to the court shortly after the hearing commenced.
