New draw for Giraavaru Falhu plots commences after changes to land use plan

A new draw to reallocate land plots issued from the Giraavaru Falhu commenced on Saturday after the Housing Ministry made changes to the original land use plan.
Thousands from Male’ were promised land from Giraavaru Falhu, Gulhifalhu and Hulhumale’ under the ‘Binveriya’ housing scheme rolled out by the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
But the incumbent administration made changes to the land use plan for Giraavaru Falhu citing lack proper planning and adequate place for essential services. Those awarded land from Giraavaru Falhu were also given the option of switching to Gulhifalhu.

The revisions have resulted in changes to the original locations of the land plots.
A new draw to determine the locations of the lots began at 09:30 am on Saturday at the Social Center in Male’.
The lots are being drawn by Housing Ministry employees.

According to the Housing Ministry, only one recipient per plot will be admitted into the Social Center Hall due to limited seating. However, all recipients will be immediately notified of their new plot number via SMS.
The Housing Minstry has said that they will be providing information regarding land registry and agreement at a later date.
