The number of tourists from China visiting the Maldives has reached 246,800, making up 15.8% of total arrivals so far this year.
According to the Tourism Ministry, Russia is the second largest market with 187,731 tourists, followed by the United Kingdom with 139,789 visitors.
From January 1 to September 15 this year, a total of 1,558,658 tourists visited the Maldives, marking a 9.6% increase compared to the same period last year, when 1,421,794 arrivals were recorded.
On average, the country receives 6,041 tourists per day. Resorts remain the most popular choice of stay, with 1,144,932 tourists choosing resorts, while 340,191 stayed in guesthouses.
The ministry also reported that 1,265 tourist establishments are currently approved, offering a combined bed capacity of 64,500.
So far, about 1.6 million tourists have visited the Maldives this year, and the government remains optimistic about reaching its annual target of 2.3 million arrivals.
