Bank of Maldives has announced that with the further development of their digitalization services, all banking services will be provided online from the start of Ramadan onwards.
Additional services that will be available online are:
- Opening of private and business accounts
- Application for all loans and financing, including those for purchase and development of housing and for businesses
- Incoming foreign transactions of under USD 10,000 will be immediately deposited to account after verification
- TT and online money transfers abroad will be allowed online up to a limit of USD 5000
- Withdrawals for businesses will be allowed via their Business Card up to MVR 200,000
Alongside these, BML will also be introducing additional services. These include:
- Sending cards to applicants' residences so they no longer need to visit the Card Centre for card issuance. Card activation and PIN changes will be made available via internet banking and BML App
- Payments accepted on POS and payment gateways from BML Cards by businesses will be deposited to account within 24 hours if settlement is completed for the day
- Any errors in withdrawals or deposits at ATMs that result in transaction not being completed will be addressed within one hour, with the funds deposited back into the account within this time
- Assigning dedicated Relationship Managers to provide specialized services for companies and businesses
- A 24 hour service contact centre, ChatBot, live agent, and WhatsApp, Viber messaging to be introduced to provide customer service around the clock
BML said that these services are being introduced in time for Ramadan so as to offer convenience to customers, allowing them to fulfill their banking needs without physically going to the bank.
Should a customer wish to visit the bank for any reason during Ramadan, BML branches will be open on all days except the last ten days of the month. Although the last third of Ramadan has been declared holidays, the bank's branches will be open on March 17 and March 29.
During Ramadan, working hours of BML are 9.30am to 12:30pm.
