Maldives has welcomed over 50,000 tourists from China this year, making China the top source market for Maldivian tourism in 2025. According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, as of February 11, a total of 50,979 Chinese tourists have visited the Maldives, accounting for 16.8 percent of total arrivals.
The data shows that 303,447 tourists have arrived in the Maldives so far this year, marking an 8.7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Last year, 279,234 tourists had visited by this time, while the number stood at 239,555 in 2023.
The Maldives tourism industry continues to thrive, with 1,137 establishments currently in operation. This includes 172 resorts, 796 guesthouses, 154 safari vessels, and 15 hotels, collectively providing 61,027 beds for visitors.
Tourism remains a key pillar of the Maldivian economy, with the industry witnessing steady growth and diversification of its markets.
