Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has departed for China to attend the Eleventh Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, a respected international convening of scholars and policy-makers. The forum will be held from 9 to 10 July in Qufu City, Shandong Province.
His visit underscores a commitment to promoting civilisational dialogue and advancing bilateral relations. In a statement shared via social media prior to departure, the vice president expressed anticipation for the discussions scheduled during the forum. He noted plans to engage with other participants and affirmed his intent to hold "important discussions" with attending officials.
The vice president also referenced "sideline discussions with senior officials of Shandong Province to strengthen ties". "Looking forward to participating in the forum and engaging in sideline discussions with senior officials of Shandong Province to strengthen ties and promote shared values," he stated.
The forum, set against the backdrop of Qufu, is expected to convene more than 800 scholars and experts. This year's programme will explore the historical roots of global civilisations while examining avenues for future development.
