Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad will be visiting the Maldives soon, says the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM).
Aminath Nadira and Abdulla Kamaludeen confirmed this while speaking to the media after they received approval to form MRM.
They said that former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has met with the Prime Minister during his visit to Malaysia. During the meeting, Maumoon gave him a letter from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, inviting him to Maldives.
Kamaludeen said that he has accepted the invitation, but did not confirm a specific date for his visit.
Mahathir became Prime Minister in May of last year, and his predecessor, Najib Razak had also visited the Maldives during President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.
