A fishing boat on its way towards A. Dh. Omadhoo has sunk into the Alihuras Sea, reports Maldives National Defense Force.
MNDF said a plane flying over the area reported seeing the five people travelling on the boat stranded and in need of rescuing. The authority said the Coastguard was immediately dispatched to the area, and that the five people have been rescued.
The 60-foot fishing boat sank 10 nautical miles to the west of K. Rannaalhi Resort.
