On October 22nd, while addressing residents of L. Gan, President Muizzu assured that his administration would clear MVR 2.3 billion in outstanding debts owed to private businesses and award several development projects to private companies within the next 10 days.
Speaking during Thursday’s ceremony, the President revealed that the government is scheduled to award additional projects to private companies, adding payments under these projects will be disbursed to contractor in accordance with the agreements.
“There will be no delays in receiving payments for these projects which have been signed. The delays which persists when the government disburses payments will not be an issue here,” he said.
Notably, the government has also contacted 10 developmental projects to private companies over the past two years, bringing the total of projects awarded within these three days to 216. Out of this, 123 projects are island-based.
