Two men have been arrested on suspicion of grooming and sexually assaulting a 15‑year‑old girl.
Police identified the suspects as Ali Hassan, 44, of Sylvester/H.Dh. Kulhudhuffushi, and Mohamed Ihsan, 21, of Kasthoorige/H.Dh. Kulhudhuffushi.
The arrests were made in a joint operation conducted by the Family and Child Protection Department, Crime Intelligence, and Atoll Police.
According to police, Ali Hassan was arrested on 24 December last year, and his remand has since been extended until next month. Mohamed Ihsan was arrested on 3 February, and his remand is set to expire on 6 June.
Police confirmed that the victim is a 15‑year‑old girl.
Authorities stated that they are taking strict action against individuals who target children for grooming or exploit them for drug‑related activities, gang crimes, or sexual offences.
