President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed on Sunday morning for an official visit to Malaysia, at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
This is President Muizzu’s first official visit to Malaysia since assuming office.
During the visit, President Muizzu will hold official talks with Prime Minister Anwar, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation, exchanging views on regional and global issues, and exploring new opportunities for partnership between the two nations. Both leaders are also scheduled to witness the signing of key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Exchange of Notes across several important sectors.
President Muizzu will attend a Business Forum organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, where he will engage with prominent Malaysian investors. Additionally, he will deliver a lecture at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) on the topic: “Intellectual Renaissance: Unveiling the Scientific and Modern Development of Islamic Civilisation.”
The President will also meet with the Maldivian community residing in Malaysia, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to addressing the needs and concerns of Maldivians living abroad.
Accompanying the President is a high-level delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials.
The visit aims to further strengthen the longstanding, close, and cordial relations between the Maldives and Malaysia, while enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly improving services for Maldivians residing in Malaysia.
