Education Minister Dr.Aishath Shiham have said that the most important education for a human being is the education during early childhood. She said that Maldives has become the first country in Asia to provide early childhood education for free.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Darubaaruge last night to celebrate the achievements of the education sector, Minister said that researches show that children retain habits they learn during childhood. She said that hence, pre-school education is the foundation of any child.
She said that so far in Maldives pre-school education was not free and because of this some parents were not able to send their kids to schools. She said that hence the President wanted to change that and make sure that no child was left behind.
In addition, she said that under the new policies of the government, even pre-school students will get all necessary materials for studies starting from next year.
