Case regarding documents pertaining to Nasheed’s arrest filed to Police

Maldives Correctional Services has filed case in Police regarding the documents on social media, allegedly pertaining to former President Mohamed Nasheed’s arrest.
Speaking in the press conference held in Home Ministry, Commissioner General of Prisons Ahmed Husham stated that the institution had received the said documents a few days prior. The documents allegedly state that Nasheed’s sentence has to be served in house arrest. He said that the institution had forwarded the case to the Police for further investigation.
Husham said that the alleged document was not in the format that was routinely used by the institution, which clearly states that the prisoner is at all times under the care of a guardian and that the said guardian has to sign a document before the prisoner is transferred to the care of the guardian.
He said that the documents were not from the Service. He declined to reveal additional information, citing that this case was under investigation.
