Fisheries Minister Dr.Shainee delivers Keynote speech at Raisina Dialogue

Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Shainee has delivered a keynote speech at Raisina Dialogue held at Delhi from 16th to 19th July.
It is an annual geopolitical and geo-economic dialogue organized by the Minister of External Affairs of India and Observer Research Foundation, a think tank based in India.
In his speech Minister Dr.Shainee talked about how small states such as Maldives could benefit from developments taking place in the Indian Ocean region and also how such states could effectively respond to challenges.
Dr.Shainee also looked upon how Maldives recovered from the Indian Ocean Tsunami and graduated from least developed countries to a middle income country. He also highlighted the importance of having stability in Maldives for the security of the region. He said that if Maldives is vulnerable politically, it will endanger the safety and security of the region.
In addition, Dr.Shainee spoke about the strategies of President Yameen to make Maldives stronger. He talked mainly about three strategies. They are investing in partnerships, investing in infrastructure, and investing in institutions that will improve the governance of the country.
Speaking of infrastructure developments in the Maldives he highlighted the airport development project and the Hulhumale’-Male’ bridge development project. In addition, he talked about the economic diversification programs initiated by President Yameen. Furthermore, Dr.Shainee assured that Maldives will be always open to foreign investors as long as it benefits and helps Maldives to move to the next level of development.
Dr.Shainee highlighted many different strategies of the government of Maldives and assured that with these strategies Maldives will be on the right path towards development.
