Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation following report of a nine-year-old girl who was sexually abused by her two elder brothers.
Maldives Police Service says the case was reported to the agency from an island in the atolls at 10:40 pm on May 10.
It confirms the suspects in the case are a 13-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy – who are the brothers of the nine-year-old victim.
Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services reports the nine-year-old girl has been moved out of her home “to a safe environment”.
