Speaker Nasheed wraps unofficial UK trip, returns to quarantine

Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed returned to Maldives on Tuesday morning after wrapping up his unofficial trip to the United Kingdom.
The former president departed to the UK on August 28, after the parliament went into recess.
He met with Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons, on September 16 to discuss parliamentary issues, according to the parliament of Maldives.

Nasheed also participated in the virtual High Level Session of the EU Democracy Week the following day.
Upon his return, he is currently undergoing the 14-day quarantine mandated for all returning locals to the country, as per the Health Protection Agency (HPA)'s COVID-19 safety guidelines.
