Former Island Chief of Thaa Madifushi, Mohamed Rahaa, has been found dead in the island lagoon.
Madifushi Council President Mohamed Shafiu said that the former chief, who was above 65 years of age, was found at around 1:00 p.m. today.
“We don’t know what happened exactly. Rahaa Katheeb was discovered dead near the beach, in the sea,” said Shafiu.
Shafiu cited Rahaa’s family and said that Rahaa goes to the sea to bathe before afternoon prayers every day, and that he was discovered lying naked in the sea by people who went looking for him when he did not return home today.
