Former President Nasheed have said that he does not have the support of the majority in Maldives.
He said this while speaking at a meeting of Maldives United Opposition. He said that he is aware that his supporters will want to know why he did not become the leader of the Maldives United Opposition.
” I have a lot of support، even MDP does، but that support is not a clear majority، even Dr.Jameel do not have majority support، or Adhalath party and Jumuhoory Party for that matter. Even Adeeb and other non-partisan groups with us do not enjoy majority support ” said Nasheed.
He said however if everyone work together they can get majority support. He said that he will not hesitate to take a step back do achieve that. He further said that he decided to work with Dr.Jameel with good faith and intentions.
He also said that what the country need is a fair election and for that an interim government is important.
