The government has launched a new programme aimed at providing social support to bed-ridden senior citizens. The programme was officially launched by the Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham.
Under the programme, trained volunteers including senior citizens and Girl Guides will visit the homes of bedridden senior citizens one a month. According to the Ministry, th etraining programme has already been conducted for interested volunteers.
The Ministry said the programme will help identify the social needs of bedridden senior citizens and their families and ensure the provision of necessary assistance.
